Cathy
Kelly-Arney CMA, MLTC, BSHS
Cathy Kelly-Arney
came to the healthcare education field after working
in a doctor’s office and hospital setting
for 17 years. She started as the medical assisting
program director for one of National College’s
campuses and now coordinates 24 campuses’ healthcare
education programs for medical assisting, surgical
technology, health information technology, pharmacy
technician, medical coding and billing, and medical
transcription. Cathy’s experiences with National
College for the past 12 ½ years have broadened
her horizons in that she also serves as a site
visitor for CAAHEP/CRB medical assisting programs,
was on the Curriculum Review Board for six years
and chaired that Board for a year, is a current
member of the CAAHEP Standards Committee as well
as the CCA Healthcare Committee. Among her proudest
accomplishments is co-authoring two texts with
Thomson Delmar – now Cengage – Learning
and contributing and/or reviewing texts.
She
is happily married with no children although
she has many pets that she considers her family.
She lives in Bluefield WV in her grandmother’s
house and enjoys a variety of hobbies.

Michelle
Heller CMA, RMA
Michelle Heller has been a healthcare educator over
the past 25 years and is currently the program director
of the medical assisting program at Ohio Institute
of Health Careers in Columbus Ohio. She has been
a presenter at a variety of educational and healthcare
conferences and active in publishing for the past
twelve years. Michelle is the lead author of a clinical
handbook for healthcare professionals titled “Delmar
Learning’s Clinical Handbook for the Medical
Office” and is just now completing a co-authoring
project for a clinical textbook entitled: “Clinical
Medical Assisting; A Professional, Field Smart Approach
to the Workplace”. |

Shirley
Eichenwald Maki, MBA, RHIA, FAHIMA
Shirley
Eichenwald is an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Healthcare Informatics and Information
Management at the College of St. Scholastica in
Duluth, MN serving as faculty in the department’s undergraduate
and graduate programs. For the past 5 years she has
been the Project Director for a grant funded initiative
(The ATHENS Project) at the College which involves
the implementation of a computer-based electronic
health record system into the curricula of all of
the academic programs in the College’s School
of Nursing and School of Health Sciences. She is
a Fellow of the American Health Information Management
Association, co-editor of Health Information Management:
Concepts, Principles and Practices, a textbook and
professional reference text published by AHIMA and
the co-author of Cengage’s new text: Using
the Electronic Health Record in the Health Care Provider
Practice. Shirley is a member of the Ambulatory EHR
Work Group for the Certification Commission on Health
Information Technology (CCHIT), a member of the Board
of Directors for BlueFin Medical, Inc. (Minneapolis,
MN) and she has recently completed a 2-year term
as the Chair of AHIMA’s Research Committee.
Shirley is well known nationally in the field
of health information management as a professional
leader, an educator and author.
